The crow's woes

As the sun was setting in the west behind the mighty mountains of the Kashi lineage, the dark clouds started to encircle the sky. Two lone crows were flying below the heavy clouds seemingly lost their way home. Lightning struck hard and one could hear the earth shattering thunder. Whoosh, the trees were swinging hard and the thunderous downpour started to fall. Ka-ah and Kaaagh were trying hard to fly amidst the rains. Ka-ah, let’s fly down and wait on that tree until the rain reduces, said Kaaagh. I don’t think we can find our way properly amidst this heavy downpour. Also, it’s too windy. I told you to eat well. You are too skinny. That’s why you are not able to fly in this weather, remarked Ka-ah. Hey ka-ah, I’m falling below. Please help me, cried Kaaagh . The two birds struggled their way towards the ground and finally perched themselves upon a lush green tree. I’m feeling so faint and it’s too cold, shivered Kaaagh.   Kaaagh was the youngest sister of K...

Stood tall, Autumn to fall

The pillows rushed to dry the tear That rolled from fights and lot of fear It came running and said I know all your sob stories Do you want to make such memories? The blankets rushed to wrap me around Muttering, I was cozy when you were sound, While your dreams might have been scary I am here, my dearie To cover you like a fairy. There stood the bed Not reacting to the ups or downs Creaking only at the biggest lump Look at me, it said Stay grounded and that's the best The walls were quiet Pristine and white. There were scars to count Yet ignored them all Just to make you feel firm and bound That room knew it all The secrets deep down the heart Happy smiles or wanly tears It swept them all and still stood tall Through every emotion Like the seasons of  Autumn to fall.               - Divya Venkatesan

Chic!; Creative and Crisp. Imaginations run wild but content blocked to less than 100 words. Challenge accepted and well rewarded too.  In an effort to quickly share thoughts and develop “that” cult following what has changed is the act of real writing.  This is age of Instagram and Twitter and status messages. Time is essence. Capturing the attention of reader for mere seconds to make a lasting impact. There is no patience for long sentences... stories… Facebook lost its face… and ...

How to get distracted in 5 seconds!

After coming across a series of intriguing headlines/ movie names like ‘How to lose a guy in 10 days’, ‘How to lose double chin in 7 days’, ‘How to train your dragon’, ‘How to sport six pack in 15 days’, I thought why not come up with a similar tale for the “Alpha Gen”.   How to get distracted in 5 seconds!   Open the iPad to check mail 1 , There you see, an already open YouTube trail. That fifth second, you forget your flow, And get engaged in a complete evening show.   Begins with one short video, Lose track in the serial queue, There you go, watching it from that fifth second, Till the time you hear a beep in your mobile.   Tap the phone to see the text, There, your see 'the tiny blink'. Irony of an invisible wall

That day.. I was scared. I didn't know the one behind. Hidden beneath all the shades that one, constantly changed. Smile on face, smirk on break. Laud at you, aloud behind you. Sometimes nice, Sometimes wicked wise. Who are they? Its hard to say. For, they wore a mask. Why is it? I ask. Today.. I'm still scared. For, I know the one behind. Different shades they wear, but all beneath the ear. Silver smile flashing, nose and mouth exposing. Sneeze or cough you hear, terrifying than a nuclear. Speak to you, right on face. Close to you, like nothing's changed. Shocked to see! Them, roaming free. For, they don't wear the mask. Why is it? I ask. In deep contemplation, Divya Venkatesan

Road NOT to be taken

  - by 21st century Robert Frost  Two roads diverged from home. And, sorry I could not travel both. Lost in sands of time, looking at one, far as I could; to where the potholes end. Then looked the other way, thinking perhaps it as better save;  because it was patched and new. Though as for passing there, it was flashes of traffic and no fun. Both lay equally same. Potholes filled in water from rain. Oh! I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing it is never going to change. I doubted if I should ever travel. I shall be telling this with a sigh! Somewhere ages and ages hence, Two roads diverged from home and I - I took the one filled with traffic, and that has led to this remix. Creatively exhausted, Divya Venkatesan

Sound of solitude

I couldn't care less, about what you said. I couldn't think less, about the days we spent. I couldn't cry less, about everything I miss. Where are you? My one, forever friend. I couldn't sleep well, with your dreams filled. I couldn't speak well, when you are not at the other end. I couldn't smile well, as you were my single mirror. Where are you? My one, forever friend. What do I tell my heart, that beats so hard? What do I tell my eyes, that keeps searching for your sight? What do I tell my feet, that always move towards your side? Where are you? My one, forever friend. Forever, I had thought. False!, its all gone. Forever, as I felt, Alas! where do I now get, Forever a friend, One, like you to tend. Where are you? My one, forever friend. Forever in memory. Yes! there you will be. Forever with that bewitching smile, Shining high above mine. In deep memory, of every dear one lost, Divya Venkatesan
